My Why

Due to a few incidents with other dogs, my first rescue became very reactive when out on walks. It was such a difficult thing to see my once bouncy boy suddenly barking and lunging when he saw a dog in the distance.

Eventually it got to the point that he could no longer go on his beloved group walks and it felt like I'd taken something special away from him.

Through diligent training, gentle exposure and care, I've been able to dramatically reduce his reactivity and it's almost non-existent now, but I still watch the horizon and manage interactions purely out of habit.

However, this got me thinking. How many other families are struggling to find someone who understands the challenge? So many adverts I see say "must be good with other dogs" or "group walks only", "must have good recall", "must be good off lead", and it's such a lonely and demoralising place to be on the other side of that. It often left me wondering "why can my dog not enjoy these experiences too?"

So I'm here to accept all dogs as they are: muzzled, reactive, nervous, on-leash or off-leash. I am your judgement free support for your four-pawed family member. I will work with you to establish what experiences your dog is comfortable with and together we will enrich their lives.
